In his essay “I Know the Truth, So Don’t Bother Me with Facts “Jeffrey Kluger discusses how most people are simply betrayed by lies, which I believe comes from the media and advertisements. He also mentions that is very difficult for people to change their minds and beliefs after true data is presented to them. A study was conducted by two researches from “Ohio State University” on how people reacted when learning that there would be a mosque build at “Ground Zero”, this made many people very upset and against it.

Most magazines are full of lies in my opinion. Especially for young girls that read and want to look like the girl on magazine, which I think is not a great influence on a young girls growing up. Magazine also tends to hide actual facts, for example young girls don’t have to look like a model 24hrs a day seven days a week. You can look different and be beautiful in your own different way. A few years ago and even now many young girls have food disorder, because they want to look like the girl in the magazine. And now is up to parents to educate and tell young girls the truth about magazines and that it is just entertainment for everyone.

When the media stated that there would be a “Mosque” build by “Ground Zero”, most people had a huge issue with that and were against it. Everyone just heard “Ground Zero” and building a “Mosque” It was not a true fact that there would be a "Mosque" there, but medai again made a huge deal about. The media did not give anyone a break to breathe with what happened on 9/11, and yes no one ever will including me. I feel like they always keep adding negative stories to capture your attention without any true facts most of the time.

We have to make sure that we have an open mind and learn the facts that are present to us before we make a decision about life and other important things in the world. When it comes to “Ground Zero” everyone has a difficult time coping with the tragedies that happen there and we will never forget that day. But we must also try and understand that not everything presented to you by the media can be true.
